arge Orangery
The large orangery adjacent to the west side of the
Alte Schloss was built between 1709 and 1712.
Originally used to store rare plants during the cold
winter months, during the summer when the 500 or so
orange, lemon and bitter orange trees were adorning
the Baroque gardens the orangery became a venue for
courtly festivities.
